MX II more photos, engine news & extra tank

Hi!

I forgot to include a photo of the instruments on one of the aircraft yesterday, so here it is.

Just to clarify, both these aircraft have Rotax 503 single carburettor engines. One has dual ignition, the other single ignition.
I tried gently rotating both engine today - all seemed good!
I've included a photo below of an extra aluminium fuel tank of about 20 litres, which the previous owner was going to add to one of the aircraft.
Hope this helps. Best wishes, Nick

Raven X Helmets & Headsets, Engine News

Hi!

Here are some photos of the Communica helmets and headsets I have decided to include with this aircraft. I estimate these are worth about £250!

As you can see from the photo above, the helmet bags actually match the colur scheme of the trike side skirts and the wing. Very classy!

The white helmet has a seperate headset (displayed between the helmets). The red helmet has internal ear defenders and boom microphone. It also has the same skull and cross bones decal as on the fin.
You can see the helmets and headsets are the prestigious Communica brand.

When I tried gently rotating the prop today I discovered that the engine is unwilling to turn. I expect this is due to the piston rings sticking to the cylinder liners. As explained in my eBay listing, the engine will need stripping down to inspect and probably replace the little end and big end roller bearings. During that strip down the piston rings and cylinder liners can be inspected. They could have rusted together - without an inspection it is impossible to tell. Depending on the extent of any rust they could need new rings and the bores polishing, or boring out and oversize pistons fitted. This could add an extra £100 or so to costs - I will try to find a more accurate figure and post it tomorrow.

The excellent Communica kit should more than compensate for this extra cost, which is why I have decided to definately include it.

I am of course happy if anyone wants to change their bid (up or down!) in the light of this new information - I want the buyer to be happy!

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, Nick

MX II Photos

Hi

Here are some photos of the MX II's I have for sale. Apologies for the cluttered state of my garage - I had intended tidying things up so you could see the aircraft more clearly but I hurt my back lifting my Raven X trike onto its trailer last week, and have not been able to do much since.

The photo above shows the yellow elevator of one aircraft, plus the framework on one.

The photo below shows the upper surface of one wing and part of the framework of the aircraft pictured above.
The photo below shows the underside of the rigged wing, plus the elevator, 2 tailplanes and 2 rudders of the aircraft, all raised off the floor for storage.

Seats hidden below struts, ribs and clutter.
Better view of the seats on the other aircraft.
The three de-rigged wings stored on carpet-padded supports.

The foam rubber on this air intake filter perished - I have the internal spring support.

The highly sophisticated instrument panel! LOL As you can see the black steel tubing will need rubbing down and repainting with polymer.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your interest in my aircraft, and a special thank you to all the bidders!

Best wishes, Nick

Raven X Photos

Hi!

Here are some photos of my Raven X. The one above shows the wing in it's wing bag inside my garage - it's the long black object on the right hand side, suspended by the white rope at the front.

As I hurt my back lifting the trike onto the trailer last week, I have not been able to get the wing out and rig it, nor fully remove the covers from the trike unit. I have done my best to show the trike unit from all angles.

The next photo shows the extra tank fitted below the rear seat. Combined with the main tank this should give about 45 litres fuel capacity.

This next photo shows the fuel filter bowl, air intake filter, etc.

That's a Newton prop below. As you can see, the varnish has been waethered and started to peel at the hub. There is green algae on the suspension tubes, but that should clean off OK. Some of the exposed nuts, washers and perhaps bolts will probably need replacing due to corrosion.
As you can see below, the yellow stripe in the side skirt has been stained by slight fuel spillage when refueling the underseat tank. Should clean up OK.
The big black circular object below is the starter mechanism for the pull start. Although I have a starter motor which should fit this engine, I suspect there is not enough room on this particular aircraft.
The starter mechanism again - not enough room this side either.
There is slight water staining on the seats - the white marks. I think they'll clean OK.
There is a fair amount of surface rust on the exhaust. I have a spray can of exhaust paint which should fix this.

There is a Silva compass fitted to the front strut. Luckily, this has it's own cover which has protected it from the weather.
Main tank with fuel contents site gauge.

Hope this helps. Many thanks to everyone showing an interest in this aircraft, and especially all the bidders!

Happy bidding! Best wishes, Nick
